This collaboration brings together Josantos Safaris’ expertise in tourism and hospitality with Ndùi’s rich cultural heritage, scenic rock formations, and traditional way of life. Why Clients with Trust Issues Are a Business Red Flag You Should Always Avoid.

In the world of business, not every client is worth pursuing. Clients plagued by chronic trust issues—those who second-guess every decision, demand endless proof, and nitpick minor details—stand out as particularly toxic. These aren't just picky customers; they're walking time bombs that drain resources, erode morale, and sabotage long-term success. Here's why you should always say no to them. First, they manufacture complaints out of thin air. No matter how flawless your delivery, they'll unearth reasons to complain. A project delivered on time? They'll claim it lacks "soul." Budget met? Suddenly, they question every expense line item. This stems from their inherent distrust, not your performance. Studies from customer relationship management experts, like those in Harvard Business Review analyses of client dynamics, show that such behavior correlates with high churn rates—up to 40% more likely to terminate contracts prematurely—because satisfaction is ne...

Abolish KWS Gateway Fees Strike.

Kenya's tourism industry players have gone on strike due to the introduction of a "gateway fee" by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).  The Tour Operators, Tour Guides and Hospitality Stakeholders opposes the new KWS park fee system, describing it as financially punitive, lacking public consultation, and unlawful. Key reasons for the strike and protests include: •Significant hikes in park entry fees:  For example, Nairobi National Park entry for residents rose from KSh 430 to KSh 1,000, while foreign visitors' fees doubled from KSh 5,570 to KSh 10,360. Similar large increases were applied to premium parks such as Amboseli and Lake Nakuru. •Introduction of a hidden 5 percent "gateway fee" charged on top of park-entry fees and only disclosed at payment, which the federation argues has no legal backing. •Restrictive payment options:  The new system accepts only Mpesa and Visa card payments, removing bank transfers, which complicates large transactions and group p...

Gateway fees 8.5% by Kenya Wildlife Service

Image
The newly introduced 8.5% Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) gateway card processing fee is a significant development affecting tourism in Kenya in 2025. This fee applies to all payments made via cards (Visa and M-PESA Visa card), which is now the only accepted payment method after the removal of bank transfer options.  The 8.5% charge is unusually high compared to other government or payment processing fees, creating financial pressure on tour operators and tourists alike.Effects on Tourism and Tour Operators: The card processing fee increases the overall cost burden on tourists, which operators may have to absorb or pass on to clients, potentially making Kenyan safaris less price competitive. Tour operators face challenges in managing their finances and pricing structures due to this increased transactional cost, especially for large group payments. There is widespread dissatisfaction from tourism stakeholders, including the Kenya Tourism Federation,...

BACKGROUND AND NEED. •Girls from disadvantaged families in Makueni County face challenges managing menstrual hygiene due to lack of access to sanitary products. •The "Period of Shame" leads to absenteeism, school dropouts, and emotional distress. •Previous county initiatives highlight the impact of sanitary pad provision on keeping girls in school and healthy. •School closures have exacerbated the inability for girls...

Best time to visit Kenya

The best time to visit Kenya is generally during the dry seasons, which are from July to October and from December to February. These months provide ideal conditions for safaris and wildlife viewing due to minimal rainfall, making it easier to spot animals and travel within the parks. The period from July to September is particularly popular because it coincides with the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras in the Maasai Mara, a spectacular wildlife event. The short dry season from December to February offers warm temperatures and good wildlife sightings as well. However, some consider the shoulder seasons—November to mid-December and January to March—as the best times to visit for fewer crowds, greener landscapes, and lower prices, while still maintaining excellent wildlife viewing. April and May represent the long rainy season and are usually the least favorable for visits due to heavy rains causing muddy conditions and interruptions to safaris. Despite this, the rains transform ...

The Matatu Culture

The matatu culture in Kenya is a vibrant and iconic aspect of the country's urban life, especially in cities like Nairobi and Mombasa.  It revolves around privately owned minibuses, known as matatus, which serve as a primary mode of public transportation. These vehicles are renowned for their colorful and elaborate decorations, music, and lively atmosphere, reflecting a unique form of Kenyan pop culture and artistic expression. Key Features of the Matatu Culture Artistic Expression Matatus are often adorned with vivid paintings, portraits of famous personalities, slogans, and graffiti. They are considered moving art galleries that showcase Kenyan creativity and cultural identity. Many have LED lights, LCD screens, and even Wi-Fi, making them more than just transport—they are mobile cultural symbols. Socio-Cultural Significance The culture is rooted in Kenya’s post-independence era, emerging in the 1960s, and gained prominence through influences from hip-hop and American urban cultu...

Serengeti or Masaimara?

Between Masaimara and Serengeti with Josantos Safaris, the choice depends on the kind of safari experience preferred: 1. Masaimara National Reserve in Kenya is smaller, more compact, and easier to access from Nairobi. It offers a higher density of wildlife, including the Big Five, making it easier to spot animals in a shorter time. The Great Migration river crossings are a dramatic highlight here especially from July to October. Masaimara often has more vehicles at popular spots, but private conservancies can offer exclusivity and night drives. The cultural aspect with the Maasai people adds a unique dimension. 2. Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is vast and less crowded, providing a quieter, more immersive safari experience with wider-ranging landscapes including open plains, kopjes, and woodland. Wildlife is more spread out, so spotting animals requires more time and patience, but the park hosts a massive population of lions and offers opportunities like hot air balloon safaris an...
