PAD PER GIRL INITIATIVE — Supporting Girls in Makueni County

INTRODUCTION.
•Josantos Safaris proudly announces the launch of the "Pad per Girl" social responsibility initiative.
•This initiative aims to provide sanitary pads to girls in Makueni County, particularly crucial now that schools are closed.
•Many girls rely on pads provided through schools; closure has interrupted this support.
•Our goal is to support girls' health, dignity, and continued education during this challenging time.

BACKGROUND AND NEED.
•Girls from disadvantaged families in Makueni County face challenges managing menstrual hygiene due to lack of access to sanitary products.
•The "Period of Shame" leads to absenteeism, school dropouts, and emotional distress.
•Previous county initiatives highlight the impact of sanitary pad provision on keeping girls in school and healthy.
•School closures have exacerbated the inability for girls to access these essential products.

OBJECTIVE OF THE INITIATIVE.
•To provide monthly sanitary pads to girls in selected communities in Makueni County.
•To ensure girls’ dignity, reduce stigma around menstruation, and promote their well-being.
•To collaborate with local leaders, schools, and stakeholders for effective distribution.
•To raise awareness on menstrual health, hygiene, and the importance of supporting girls.

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN.
•Monthly distribution of sanitary pads funded partially through Josantos Safaris client bookings and external donors.
•Partner with local women groups and schools for distribution and education.
•Launch pilot distributions in high-need areas during school closures.
•Monitor and evaluate impact, gather feedback for continuous improvement.

CALL TO ACTION.

•Contributions can be made via booking safaris with Josantos Safaris or direct donations.

$5 supplies enough pads for one girl for a month.
$50 supports 10 girls for a month.
$600 funds one year of pad distribution for 10 girls.
$1000 funds one year of pads distribution for 100 girls.

Raila Amolo Odinga
